Jewish New Testament gives the original Jewish meaning of the New Testament, which plays a tremendous role in its understanding.  The New Testament is a Jewish book, written by Jews, most of the times about Jews and for the Jews, but equally for gentiles. Its main character, Messiah YaShua (Jesus), was and still is a Jew. Ideas of redemption, salvation, baptism, new covenant and conception of Messiah Himself are Jewish. In other words, the New Testament is built on the foundation of Jewish scriptures (Tanakh). It adds to those scriptures, not contradicts them !!!

The Church and the Jews

When the matter concerns the relationship between Jews and Gentiles, the main direction of traditional theology in the Church – is division. (This is also the direction of traditional rabbinic theology.) From the other hand, GOD’s main direction – is unity: take both and make a new creation out of them. In marriage with men and women, as well as in Biblical union with Jews and Gentiles, GOD’s purpose is neither subdual, nor abolishment of individuality, but mutual consolidation, service, and fruitfulness.

Theology that opposes the Church to the Jews is a substitutive (anti-Semitic) theology. The substitutive theology appeared as a response to Jewish Nation being “chosen”. Anti-Semitic tendency appeared long time ago. Shaul (Paul) refers to it in his letters to Romans. Nicene Counsel, 325 b.c.e. became a distinct and turning point in the history of the Church. Since then the theology accepted by the Church was built on anti-Semitic bases. Theological changes, accepted in Nice deprived the Church of its ability to stay faithful to GOD’s given mission. The problem of wrong interpretation of the scriptures

Some of the traditional teachings of the Church are completely opposite to what Sacred scriptures (Tanakh) teach in reality. But it wasn’t always so. This happened gradually, with time. But how did it happen? The Church starts investigation (research) of the scriptures with the New Testament, creates understanding of these teachings, and then goes back to those scriptures which GOD has given in the beginning. One way or another, Bible had to adjust to changing conditions and ideology of the Church. Often it happened because of the rejection of the original meaning of the text. Historically, logically, and biblically this approach is incorrect.

Historically, YaShua’s (Jesus) followers didn’t believe everything they heard. They compared what they heard with what GOD revealed to Israel on mountain Sinai and during the following thousand years. From Bible’s point of view, what GOD commanded and YaShua confirmed, new teachings or statements of Messianic nature have to be checked based on what GOD has revealed earlier. New teachings need to be verified with the Truth, not the other way around !!!

Bible tells us that Abraham was a friend of GOD. He wasn’t perfect, but his life was pleasant to GOD. We know that he was the father of all those who believe, Jews and Gentiles. When Abraham was a gentile by the name Abram, GOD called him to form a new nation. GOD changed his name to Abraham, making him the father of the Jewish nation. During that time GOD told him that he would become the father of many nations. Through their belief in YaShua (Jesus), Gentiles become the children of Abraham. That’s why the life of Abraham, your father, is an example for learning and living, no matter if you are a Jew or Gentile. This book teaches about Abraham’s deeds, and also his character and dedication. True children of Abraham will try to be like him in their faith and their action.
